A: Texas Hold 'em is the most offered game in casino poker rooms around the world and online. So our answer would be YES. It is definitely the most popular game here in Texas.
Q: What is the Flop?
A: The Flop in Hold'Em games is the first three community cards, put out face up, altogether.
Q: What is the Turn?
A: In Hold'Em it is the fourth community card. Put out face up, by itself. Also known as "fourth street."
Q: What is the River?
A: A place you want to avoid drowing in. It is the fifth and final community card, put out face up. Also known as "fifth street." Metaphors involving the river are some of poker's most treasured cliches, e.g., "He drowned in the river."
Q: What does donk mean in poker?
A: Donk is short for "donkey". A player is called a donkey for showing his cards, lacking mental abilities or calling too often, and other beginner mistakes or unsportsmanlike actions. We seen lots of Donks in our lifetime. Don't be one.
Q: What is Drawing Dead?
A: Something you should be smart enough not to do, trying to make a hand that, even if made, will not win the pot. If you're drawing to make a flush, and someone at the table already has a full house, you are "drawing dead." Wouldn't want be there to many times.
Q: What or Who is a Maniac?
A: Someone who does a lot of aggressive raising, betting, and bluffing. A true maniac is never really a good player because they're simply doing a lot of blind gambling. However, a player who occasionally acts like a maniac for the purpose of confusing his opponents can be quite dangerous. We met a few of them here at the Texas Poker Store .
Q: What is a Kicker?
A: A kicker is anyone who kicks and crys when they loose. No, not really a Kicker is an unpaired card used to determine the better of two near-equivalent hands. For instance, suppose you have AK and your opponent has AQ. If the flop has an ace in it, you both have a pair of aces, but you have a king kicker. Kickers can be vitally important in hold'em.
Q: What is being Under The Gun?
A: The position of the player who acts first on a betting round. For instance, if you are the one to the left of the big blind, you are under the gun before the flop.
Q: What are Tells?
A: A clue or hint that players unknowingly give about the strength of their hand. They "tell" you what they're going to do before they do it. There's lots of examples such as; 1.) Looking at their chips after the flop usually means the flop has helped them. 2.) Eye Contact, players will tend to make eye contact when they have a weak hand and avoid eye contact when they have a strong hand. 3.) Table Talk, players that start talking and say something like "I'll call only because I wanna go home" or " I'll call cause I feel like gambling" or players that usually talk a lot and all of the sudden the are quiet usually means the have a strong hand. Becareful and listen for these clues.
